Location
An essential introduction to Central Australia - with over 200 desert animals and 400 plants to explore at the base of the MacDonnell Ranges. A living field guide to Central Australia. In the space of just a few hours, visitors can discover how the desert comes alive. Visitors can take an easy walking trail through desert habitats and discover Desert Rivers, Sand Country and the Woodland habitat, witness free-flying birds of prey, see rare and endangered animals in the spectacular nocturnal house and take a cinematic journey through 4½ billion years of desert evolution. When visitors leave the Desert Park they will go away with new stories, skills and some of the secrets of the desert. Nature at its best - Wander through the desert and discover the botanical wonderland of three recreated desert habitats. In winter walk amongst wildflowers and in summer enjoy flourishing native grasses and flower river gums. Dingo Territory - Get up close and meet a dingo. Join a Keeper for the live interactive presentation to discover their history and cultural significance with Aboriginal people. Share in a living culture - Join local Aboriginal guides as they share stories on the plants, animals and Aboriginal culture of Central Australia.
